Using Now Give Something Back

There will be another cohort of Unions advertising vacancies in autumn 2019. If you would like to be one of those just contact nick@nicksmithconsulting.org.uk for information.

What you’ll receive

Now Give Something Back will put your Union’s details on your own page of this website and help you think about what sort of Trustee you need. From that we advertise the roles in national press and give guidance on how you can promote locally.

You’ll get guidance on holding interviews and setting questions and access to candidates CVs. Candidates are able to choose who they share their information with.

Success

Through Now Give Something Back Unions big and small and from Bristol to Inverness were able to find Trustees. Unions based on part-time distance learners and those with more traditional 18-21 core provision have found the trustees they needed. The National Press coverage reached local people as well as those elsewhere in the region or, in one case, an international business person able to Skype in from the other side of the world.

In summer 2019 there were 14 students’ unions within the cohort and of these 13 were able to appoint at least one trustees from almost 40 candidates. Several Unions have returned to Now Give Something Back for a second or third time to recruit their board members.
