Come join us at Christ Church SU

Who we are

We are a vibrant and exciting membership organisation on an exciting journey towards expanding our representation and services to enhance the experiences of all 16,000+ students at Canterbury Christ Church University.  Coming to university is a life-changing experience, and Christ Church Students’ Union exists to support members from application through to graduation and beyond.

We are the student-led and independent representative body for students at the University, and together we facilitate and amplify the collective student voice to the University and other organisations that enhance students’ lives in the local, national, and global communities in which they live.

The student-led opportunities we facilitate are huge part of who we are.  We help over 100 sports clubs and societies create amazing experiences for students to have fun, feel part of a community, and to develop leadership and employability skills.  And for the times when our members need extra help and support the Union has a free, independent Advice Centre offering guidance on academic issues, as well as advice on housing, money and other student concerns.

Our purpose

  • Our Mission - To better student life and enrich students’ experiences.

  • Our Vision - To empower, encourage and embrace every Christ Church student.

  • Our Ambition is to play a central role in the lives of students through facilitating activities which are student-led; both to improve students’ experiences as well as to ensure graduates are highly employable and equipped for future success.

  • Our Values - Student-led & Democratic, Inclusive, Dependable & Professional, Supportive, Partnership, Respect, Fun!

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees are ultimately legally responsible, individually and collectively, for all activity within the Union; for setting the vision and values of the organisation and for ensuring the delivery of organisational purpose.  The Board of Trustees also oversees the work of staff through the Chief Executive, who is responsible to the Board.

The Trustees of the Union are the four elected Sabbatical Officers, four Student Trustees (two elected and two selected), four Community Trustees, and one University Trustee.

Can you help?

We are seeking a driven and committed Community Trustee who possesses a background in finance who will support and challenge us to better student life and enrich students’ experiences with the implementation of our 2019-22 Strategic Plan.

We welcome applications from all potential volunteers, but would particularly welcome applications from BAME volunteers who are under-represented on our Board.

We are online, here's the Uni, and here we are at the Charity Commission
